I am currently a senior at Reedy High School completing a year-long independent study in sociocultural anthropology. Growing up, I always took an interest in science, especially when it was hands-on. One of my favorite parts of elementary school was when the scientists from High Touch High Tech visited and we got to do cool experiments and have fun learning experiences. I have also enjoyed history throughout middle school and high school. When thinking about what topic to study in ISM, I knew that I wanted to find a field of study that merged science and history and where I could make a positive impact on others. This led me to anthropology, which is considered to be at the intersection of science and history. When I am not in school, I spend most of my time swimming competitively for Texas Ford Aquatics and the Reedy swim team. I also serve as the President of From Me to You, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to relieving the stress of cancer patients as they begin chemotherapy. Lastly, I dedicate a lot of my time to volunteering with the Texas Ford Aquatics Youth Council, National Honor Society, Special Olympics Swimming, and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Next year, I will attend Wellesley College, where I plan to be on the swim team and major in anthropology.
Mission Statement:
My mission is to grow more confident in my decisions about my future, expand my knowledge about anthropology, and leave a positive impact on each individual I encounter. I hope to solidify my plans for college and beyond while researching a topic that interests me.
